The general and alternate entry requirements for the Master of Information Technology (MIT), Graduate Diploma of Information Technology (GDIT) and Graduate Certificate of Information Technology (GCIT) are outlined in the Admission Requirements Policy and Procedures. The Institute offers flexible enrolment options for domestic students, allowing them to complete their course at their own pace. Options include part-time, full-time, or intensive study modes.
International students are required to enrol full-time to meet their student visa conditions. While there may be some flexibility in terms of varying course load or study pace, part-time study is generally not permitted.

If you have completed studies that are the same as subjects in your course or have work and life knowledge that is relevant to your course, you may be eligible for Credit for Prior Learning. Contact the Student Support team for more information on the application process.
If your application for admission into a course is successful, the Institute will issue you with a Letter of Offer and a Written Agreement. You will need to review, sign and return the agreement along with proof of payment to confirm your enrolment.
Yes, Orientation is compulsory for all new students. It serves as an introduction to campus life, staff, student rights, obligations, and available support services. Attendance is required to ensure you have all the information you need to succeed.
The Census Date is the last day you can withdraw from a unit without incurring financial and academic penalties, such as having to pay for the unit or receiving a ‘Withdrawn Fail’ (WF) grade. Check the Academic Calendar for specific Census Dates each trimester.
Students may apply for special consideration by emailing a completed Special Consideration Form with supporting documentation to the Institute. Applications are assessed on a case-by-case basis and must be submitted as soon as practicable.
If you wish to make any changes to your enrolment, please speak to the Student Support and Success Officer who can guide you through available options. Changes may include deferral, leave of absence, course transfer, or unit adjustments.
We recommend making direct contact with the Institute first to resolve any concerns informally. If the matter cannot be resolved, you may submit a formal complaint or appeal in accordance with the Complaints and Appeals Policy and Procedures available on our Policies & Forms page.
If you decide to discontinue your studies, you may be eligible for a refund of tuition fees depending on the timing of your withdrawal and the circumstances. Please review the Fees, Charges and Refund Policy or contact the Student Support team for guidance on your individual situation.
You must use your student email for all official communication with the Institute to ensure secure and efficient communication. Important updates, including academic notices, assessment feedback and enrolment changes, are sent to this email address.
You can access Canvas by visiting amtech.instructure.com/login/canvas and logging in with your student credentials. You will need to complete multi-factor authentication (MFA) on your first login.
Contact the IT Helpdesk for assistance with student email, Canvas access, computer lab issues, or internet connectivity. The IT team is available during campus hours and can be reached via your student email or in person at the campus reception.
You can visit the on-campus library during opening hours, Monday to Friday, from 8 am to 8 pm. Additionally, the e-library provides 24/7 access to digital resources, journals, and academic databases to support your studies.
For academic guidance on specific units, contact the relevant lecturer or Unit Coordinator. For general academic matters, study skills workshops, and learning support, reach out to the Student Support and Success Team who are available to help you throughout your studies.
The Student Support and Success Team offers a range of support services to assist you with personal challenges and life adjustment. Whether you need help with accommodation, finances, or emotional wellbeing, the team is here to listen and connect you with appropriate resources.
