Credit Pathways

Types of Credit

Amtech Institute offers two pathways to gain credit towards your qualification. Both are assessed by the Academic Board on a case-by-case basis.

Credit Transfer
Formal recognition of equivalent studies completed at another accredited institution. Credit is mapped unit-by-unit against our program structure.
  • Must be from a recognised higher education provider
  • Units must be at an equivalent AQF level or higher
  • Content must align with Amtech's unit learning outcomes
  • Studies must have been completed within the last 10 years
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
Assessment of knowledge and skills gained through professional experience, workplace training, and non-formal or informal learning.
  • Relevant industry or professional experience
  • Workplace training, certifications, or short courses
  • Demonstrated competency through a portfolio of evidence
  • Must map to specific unit learning outcomes
Application Process

How to Apply

Follow these four steps to apply for credit. You can submit your RPL application at any time before or after enrolment.

Download the RPL/Credit Transfer Application Form from the Policies & Forms page.

Gather Evidence
Attach certified transcripts, unit outlines, course syllabi, work portfolios, and any certificates or references.

Submit Application
Email your completed form and evidence to admissions@amtech.edu.au.
4
Receive Outcome
The Academic Board will assess your application and notify you of the outcome within 10 business days.
Eligibility

What We Consider

The Academic Board evaluates each application against the following criteria to ensure academic quality and equivalence.

Accepted Evidence
  • Official academic transcripts
  • Detailed unit/course outlines or syllabi
  • Professional certifications (e.g., AWS, Cisco)
  • Employer references or job descriptions
  • Portfolio of professional work samples
Assessment Criteria
  • Equivalent AQF level (Level 8 or 9)
  • Alignment with unit learning outcomes
  • Currency (completed within last 10 years)
  • Volume of learning and credit point equivalence
  • Maximum 25% of total course credit points
