Course Overview

The Master of Information Technology (MIT) is Amtech Institute’s flagship postgraduate qualification, designed to prepare graduates for senior technical and leadership roles across Australia’s technology sector. Delivered face-to-face from our Spring Hill campus in Brisbane, the MIT combines rigorous academic foundations with industry-integrated practice.

Spanning two years of full-time study, the program covers 15 units across three developmental stages — from core IT fundamentals through advanced specialist electives to a capstone research project. Students build deep expertise in software engineering, cybersecurity, network architecture, IT project management, and emerging technologies including AI and cloud computing.

Graduates of the MIT are equipped to operate at the highest levels of the technology industry, driving digital transformation, leading complex projects, and shaping IT strategy. The qualification is accredited at AQF Level 9 and recognised by employers throughout Australia and internationally.

Other Entry Pathways

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants who do not meet standard entry requirements will be evaluated based on a written statement of motivations and an aptitude test. Applications are warmly encouraged.

Course Overview

The Graduate Diploma in Information Technology (GDIT) is a one-year postgraduate qualification that develops specialist IT competencies across software engineering, cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, and project management. Delivered face-to-face from Amtech Institute’s Spring Hill campus in Brisbane, the GDIT combines foundational IT knowledge with advanced technical specialisations.

The program comprises eight units spanning two progressive stages. The first four units establish core IT foundations. The second four introduce more sophisticated topics — software engineering and design, cybersecurity principles, cloud computing and infrastructure, and IT project management — preparing graduates for specialist professional roles.

The GDIT also serves as a direct pathway into the Master of Information Technology (MIT), with all 8 units fully credited towards the MIT program.

Delivered face-to-face from Amtech Institute’s Spring Hill campus in Brisbane, the GCIT is designed for professionals seeking to formalise their IT skills, or those transitioning into technology roles from adjacent fields.

The program comprises four core units covering ICT foundations, programming fundamentals, networking and systems, and data management — providing a comprehensive grounding in modern information technology.

The GCIT is the first step in Amtech’s stackable qualification pathway: all four units are fully credited towards the Graduate Diploma in IT (GDIT) and subsequently the Master of IT (MIT), allowing students to progress seamlessly to Australia’s highest IT postgraduate qualification.
